Gurdwara Singh Sabha
Serving The Community Since 1986
Inspired by the Singh Sabha movement of the late 19th century, we are dedicated to revitalizing the Sikh spirit. We carry this baton forward by spreading the teachings of Gurbani, the Punjabi language, and Sikh history across all walks of life.
About Us
Established in 1986, the Sikh Association of Fresno is dedicated to the revitalization of Sikh heritage and values. Inspired by the Singh Sabha movement, we strive to make Sikhi a living force—enriching the intellectual and cultural spirit of our community.
The Sikh Institute of Fresno is more than a building; it is the realization of a vision to create a sanctuary for learning, spiritual growth, and cultural celebration. Established as a "living force" for the Sikh community, we serve as a bridge between our rich heritage and the generations of tomorrow.
Our Vision: The Spirit of Singh Sabha
Inspired by the Singh Sabha movement of the late 19th century, we are dedicated to revitalizing the Sikh spirit. As noted by historian Sardar Harbans Singh, this movement "leavened the intellectual and cultural processes" of our faith. We carry this baton forward by spreading the teachings of Gurbani, the Punjabi language, and Sikh history across all walks of life.
Our Journey: From Dakota Avenue to North Parkway
What began in 1986 at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha on East Dakota Avenue has grown into a landmark of faith. In 2012, we transitioned to our state-of-the-art, 48,000-square-foot facility on 11 acres. This nearly $10 million project (Phase I) stands as a symbol of our community's constant evolution and dedication to Fresno.

A Hub for the Sangat
Today, the Sikh Institute serves as a source of pride for over 250 enrolled students and their families. Our facilities include:
- Main Diwan Hall: A majestic space for spiritual guidance and prayer.
- Educational Wing: 8 dedicated classrooms for Punjabi language and Sikh history.
- Langar Hall: A spacious area for community dining and selfless service.
- Community Grounds: Sprawling space for sports, cultural events, and gatherings.
Phase II: Looking Ahead
With Phase I of our 11-acre campus complete, we are now focused on the future. Phase II includes the development of:
- A Modern Professional Kitchen: Designed to elevate our Langar service and support community food programs.
- Outdoor Event Hall: A dedicated space for open-air cultural celebrations, sports days, and community gatherings.
